School Within School received three grants last fall from the Capitol Hill Community Foundation (CHCF). We very much appreciate the Foundation’s support for our music, arts, and library programs!

Here are the fantastic new additions to our school as a result of the CHCF generosity:

sws-elementary-altelier-spaceNew furniture for the elementary atelier

Miss Erika was able to purchase a set of matching tables and chairs that really transformed the elementary atelier space so that collaborative work happens naturally and all children have the space they need to do their best work. (Read more about how the CHCF-funded furniture has made a big difference in the elementary atelier.)

graphic novelsNew books for the SWS library

Ms. Ochmanek was able to purchase 50 new graphic novels — which are exciting additions to the collection and help fill the always-popular graphic novel bookshelf in the library. Graphic novels are the most requested types of books by our students!

New instruments for the SWS strings program

Mr. James was able to purchase 6 violins, 4 violas, and 20 music stands for our growing strings program. The new instruments will be used by the current 3rd graders who will enter the program next year.
