Volunteer

Parents, family and community are a vital part of SWS.

We have many opportunities to involve you, including:

Classroom volunteers-Each family is required to sign-up to facilitate, help, assist, observe and participate in the life of the classroom. Please sign up through your child’s classroom teacher. There are so many ways to be a part.

Fieldtrip Chaperones- SWS is constantly exploring the city and beyond. We travel on foot, on public buses and metro,  as well as private buses/cars. Your classroom teacher will post a sign-up for each scheduled trip.

Music/Movement Suport-If you are interested in assisting Ms. Rachel and Ms. Ceci, please contact them.

Art Studio-Parents are welcome to volunteer in the studio. Please contact Ms. McLean if interested.

1 Hour Volunteer- Ms. McLean will post an all-call  for tasks for you to do. It might be cutting, mixing, labeling, matting or scanning. No experience required. You pick the time and date and show up at SWS and work independently.

Special Projects- These might come from  you, your child,  or the school. We welcome your ideas. Talk to us.

Celebrations- Solstice, welcoming events, kindergarten closings, cd release party, exhibitions and more. It wouldn’t happen without you.

The CHCS PTSA- SWS proudly has 100 percent membership. Become a part of the larger community and get involved with events such as the Renovators House Tour & Capitol Hill Classic.
