Reading, Writing & Math

SWS follows the DC Common Core Standards and strives to continually develop the literacy curriculum so that students have frequent opportunities to use language in our balanced literacy plan. Preschool Students use Everyday Math, while Kindergarten and above use inquiry-based, also tied to the Common Core.

Beforecare & Aftercare

The families of SWS are offered an extended day program through Polite Piggies, Monday through Friday during the school year as well as half and full day camps on many days off school for students.

An Advisory and Support Team comprised of parents and teachers advise the principal and provide input on important topics; parent committees increase parent participation; and Friends of SWS raises funds and provides significant financial support for our school.
